Shane Devereux studied Agriculture Business Management at Penn State University, where he built a foundation in the economics, operations, and management questions that shape the farming and food sectors. His coursework and outside interests keep him close to the business side of agriculture.

Background

Shane Devereux grew up around West Chester, Pennsylvania, in a region where farmland and small agribusinesses are part of daily life. That backdrop shaped his decision to study Agriculture Business Management at Penn State, a program built around the practical realities of running and financing agricultural operations: supply chains, commodity markets, land and equipment decisions, and the business structures that keep farms and agribusinesses viable.

At Penn State, he focused on the management side of agriculture rather than the production side alone, looking at how agribusinesses are organized, capitalized, and run as companies. He was also involved with the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and with THON, Penn State's student-run fundraiser, experiences that gave him exposure to organizing people and resources around a shared goal, a skill set that carries over directly into agribusiness management.

Outside of his academic work, Shane has stayed connected to the practical, hands-on side of work through roles that required reliability and attention to detail, habits he considers relevant to any agribusiness operation. He grew up playing baseball and has long followed sports out of both Chicago and Philadelphia, a reflection of his parents' Chicago roots and his own upbringing in Pennsylvania.

He reads widely on decision-making and persistence, citing Shoe Dog as a book that stuck with him for its portrayal of the risk-taking and uncertainty involved in building something from the ground up, themes that resonate with the agribusiness world.
